Certificate of Walcom professional product line of Walmec S.p.A. with Sherwin Williams paint

Following the tests made on April 2nd and 3rd, 2008 at the Sherwin Williams Automotive Europe S.p.A. Training Centre, the WALCOM professional product line received certification for “Sherwin Williams” body paint application.
The following were tested and used over the two days:
- “Walcom GENESI HTE and HVLP” finish spray guns;
- “Walcom SLIM HVLP” base spray gun;
- “Walcom TD³” multifunctional heater for air treatment in the painting booth.

Tests were run in Aprilia (ITA) under the supervision of Walmec S.p.A. and Sherwin Williams Automotive Europe S.p.A. technicians.
The two-day meeting was conducted taking painted products and application methods adopted by the paint manufacturer’s technical managers into account.

During the first day, various complete, primer, base and transparent applications were performed and optimal parameters guarantee quality paint finish were identified.
The following were used for applications:
- SLIM HVLP 1.3 spray gun for dry on dry base
- Genesi HTE 1.3 spray gun for wet on wet
- Genesi HVLP 1.2 spray gun for base
- Genesi HTE 1.3 spray gun for transparent

The same tests were conducted on the second day with the addition of the new Walcom TD³ multifunctional heater – the innovative compressed air treatment system that permits operations in paint booth with purified, dehumidified and heated air, thus guaranteeing constant “environmental” conditions for the applicator, regardless of paint room temperature and humidity conditions.
Comparing the applications conducted with and without the use of the TD³ multifunctional heater, the following was observed:
- additional reduction in drying time
- higher application speed
- improved paint product application, whether primer, base or transparent
- improved drying
- improved finish

Application conditions were the following:
Line air (without TD³):
- Compressed air temperature in expansion: 25°C (77°F), air humidity: 8,8%
Air treated with the TD³ multifunctional heater:
- Compressed air temperature in expansion: 40°C (104°F), air humidity: 2,0%
